Cisco Network Engineer - Telephony

POSITION OVERVIEW


The position of Cisco Network Engineer - Telephony is a key functional role within the Technical Support Group. Network Engineers are responsible for implementing solutions for clients, supporting existing technologies, assisting in the planning and engineering process and providing clients with consistent, reliable and professional technical support.   The position is designed for a high aptitude, HIGH-level, network engineer willing to learn and grow in a cool high-tech environment.   Our fast paced service environment supports growing mid-sized businesses across the Southeast United States.   Successful candidates must have demonstrated skills as a problem solver/master troubleshooter as well as being resourceful to find answers to client problems.   Our top priority is client satisfaction!   Professionalism, customer focus, efficiency, creativity and common sense are crucial personality traits.   This individual works under the immediate supervision of the Vice President of Operations.

 

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES


The position of Cisco Network Engineer – Telephony is an experienced networking professional with the following responsibilities and requirements:


- Proficient in all aspects of network engineering: design, implementation, monitoring and troubleshooting
- Extensive experience with Cisco routers and routing technology, including VoIP gateway routers
- Cisco Telephony experience REQUIRED with direct experience and installation of Call Manager, Call Manager Express, Unity, Unity Connection, and Unified Messaging
- Cisco switch configuration for both LAN and WAN environments
- Cisco security technology with IOS security on routers and ASA and PIX devices
- Cisco wireless experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and telecom circuits and provisioning from start to finish
- Broad Knowledge of IP telephony, PSTN gateways, QoS, SIP, H.323, and MGCP over a range of broadband mediums
- Fluent with data packet analyzers and IP packet analysis
- Candidate must have some experience with the installation, migration, configuration and support of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Servers, Exchange 2000/2003 Servers, SQL Servers, and other BackOffice server technologies
- Installation, integration and support of server-level hardware technologies including:   RAID; SCSI technologies; tape backup/disaster recovery systems; external data storage arrays; fault tolerance; networking and communications; and performance optimization
- Previous telecom experience in a similar capacity preferred
- Experience writing as-built documentation and preparing Visio diagrams

 


SKILLS AND PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS


- Strong analysis and organizational skills are imperative with demonstrated capability for problem isolation and resolution
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously and properly prioritize client issues and needs
- Professionalism, attention to detail and a positive, customer-focused attitude are imperative
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Must be willing to work in a strong team environment
- Must be able to complete work within specified deadlines

 


EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS


Required Credentials

  • B.S. in IT or related field is REQUIRED  
  • Cisco CCNA and CCVP
  • 6 years MINIMUM of direct experience in technologies covered above

Preferred Credentials

  • Cisco certifications of CCIE, CCNP strongly preferred
