Cisco’s Unified Collaboration

Sun Nuclear

After years of business growth this client determined it was time to build a new corporate office building. The existing offices they inhabited would remain along with all their existing data and voice infrastructure equipment. The move provided them a unique opportunity to design and build new datacenter and supporting infrastructure in the new building. This new space needed to have the capability of supporting not only the business’s existing infrastructure but also the additional growth that was expected over the next five years.

This client engaged with us to design a new voice and data network as well as datacenter network resources for their new headquarters. After determining this client’s needs we recommended a high speed wired and wireless network with a 10GB backbone. The backbone was designed to provide high-speed access to the datacenter as well as peering between endpoints. We recommended Cisco 4500 series chassis based switches in a collapsed core network design with Cisco 3750X switches to support connectivity to the servers in their datacenter. We also recommended Cisco’s Unified Access wireless infrastructure consisting of redundant wireless LAN controllers and access points designed for the wireless N standard. At the edge we recommended Cisco’s ASA appliance to protect the network from outside security threats and to provide secured SSL VPN access for remote management.

Upon completion of the design and procurement phases we began implementing equipment into the new building. Since the building was unoccupied throughout the deployment we were able to get everything setup, verified and tested without impeding the business. Time overruns with the construction caused a shortened deployment phase for the network infrastructure deployment. We needed to speed up the deployment to meet the move in deadline. After deploying the collapsed core infrastructure we implemented the additional datacenter switching, wireless access points and security devices. Additionally we coordinated with the client’s Internet service provider to interconnect the new offices with the Internet. By working in conjunction with the client we were able to meet the client’s shortened move in deadline and provide a high level of service throughout this deployment.

By deploying Cisco technology i-Tech Support was able to provide the highest level of performance and reliability to Sun Nuclear. Our experienced and dedicated personnel were able to design and implement this solution on time and on budget. This deployment is one more example of how i-Tech Support partners with our clients to help move their business forward. We work hard with our clients to reach their goals.
