Making the Move to BYOD

June 5, 2012/0 Comments/in BYOD, CISCO, IT Blog, Security /by i-Tech Support

If there’s one thing that has really stood out to me since being a part of the IT industry, is the plethora of acronyms! I can barely keep them straight. But, there is one that keeps popping up more now than ever before…BYOD.

BYOD in the Workplace

For those of you that may not have heard the term yet (or if you’re living under a rock), BYOD means Bring Your Own Device. It is a big deal…The Cisco Visual Networking Index Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast for 2011-2016 shows there will be more than 8 billion personal mobile-ready devices by 2016!

The BYOD trend is showing no signs of slowing, so now it’s time to embrace it and create a successful BYOD environment for your company.

To begin, here are Cisco’s Four Steps to Transform the Way Devices are Used and Managed in the Workplace:

  1. Discover what Cisco BYOD can do for you.
Ask i-Tech about a BYOD demo – we can show you this today.
  2. Identify your requirements and use cases.
Review use cases and business benefits of supporting BYOD, assess the operational and IT impacts of enabling constituents to bring their own devices, and develop a roadmap to support BYOD.
  3. Complete a pilot project.
Cisco Validated Designs for BYOD help ensure faster, reliable, and predictable deployments.
  4. Define the investment and rollout roadmap.
Work with i-Tech to build the processes and timeline for your phased plan to deploy a Unified Workspace platform that supports BYOD at scale.

Are you ready for the move to BYOD? Have you already moved to a fully functioning BYOD environment? Or are you scared to take the next step? Tell us about it…What’s working for you, what’s not – we want to hear it all. In return, we will be sure to keep you updated as this trend continues and evolves.

Cheers!
Kate
